Tip
Proper preparation can make all the difference. Start by cleaning the surface you’re painting to remove any dirt or grease. We would recommend the traditional method of using sugar soap as the sugar soap will remove any grease or grim that may have built up over time on your walls overtime. https://amzn.to/3CFotaa-amazon. Sand down rough patches and fill in any holes with filler leaving the filler slightly proud so when it dries, you can gently sand back to the desired smooth finish. Frequently asked questions
How much paint will I need.
Each tin has a recommended coverage, this is calculated by square meters. Lets say you measure your wall and its 3 meters tall by 2 meters long, you times the two 3x2 which will then tell you that your wall will need 6 square meters of paint.
Can I paint emulsions onto wood?
You can do this and it is a common question we hear from customers. You can do this as long as you have primed your woodwork first. but we would still always recommend a wood and metal paint to finish as they are much more durable then standard emulsion on woodwork where they could get knocked off scuffed often. you can get eggshell, satin and gloss finish's for your woodwork.
How many coats will my wall need
Two coats is the average but this can be dependant on the quality of paint and what shade you are painting with and on top of your existing walls. sometime either a light base coat is recommended or a dark base coat depending on which colours are in question.
Can the drying times vary
Drying times can vary but water based paints will always be quicker to dry. The manufacturer will recommend a drying time but this can also depend on the weather at the time,
Tip
If you don't want your paint to dry to fast make sure all windows are closed and have the least ventilation as possible. If you want it to dry quicker, open windows or try and make as much ventilation to the area as possible.
Do I need to clean up my tools straight away?
It is good practice to clean your tool straight away but you can put your tool into a container to prevent your brush's and tools drying out, this way you can have a break or come back to your project a few hours later if you choose to carry on.
